Exhaust System - Elite/O360 + baffles
Exhaust System - Elite/O360 + baffles
I am interested in options for exhaust system installation on the Elite
with an O360 engine. It seems to me that the stock heater setup would
not be up to an Ontario winter, and I'm wondering if anybody has adapted
the exhaust system off a certified aircraft (or other homebuilt, for
that matter) to use on the Rebel/Elite.
I'm also interested in any further feedback on the RV baffle kit for use
with the Elite cowl (a.k.a. speed cowl, I believe), as that sounds like
the way to go.

I don't about the 0360 but the RV baffle kit that I am presently fitting to
my 0320 & speed cowl is going just fine. I wish I could say the same for the
speed cowl. It has taken me forever to get it to fit reasonably close. I
feel the quality of the cowl could be improved.

Alan, I have a four into one Stainless steel, brand new, exhaust here for
the O-360 with a nice big full muffler length heat shroud on it. Not sure
how well, if at all, that it will fit into the speed cowling but you could
sure do the nose bowl and doors around it. If you want to come up and pick
it up one day, to see if it will work for you, you're welcome to try before
you buy!

Al:
I did not buy MAM's firewall forward kit. I bought their aluminum cowling,
exhaust system, engine mount, nosebowl and spinner all separately. The Van's
baffle kit includes aluminum baffle material cut to fit around cylenders and
block, side stiffeners, baffle seal material, rivets and good
instructions.This was well worth it.
Good luck

I wonder if you could comment on what items in the MAM FWF kit are not
required when you buy the Vans baffles. I have a bill of materials, and the
first item would appear to be #12, CO-29 0.032" baffle material. I'd
appreciate knowing what to have them leave out.
