For Jean; I bought the basic tool kit to build my Rebel "652" and was very
satisfied. The only additions I really needed where lots of #30 and #40
drills. Buy them by the package at an industrial supply house. I found the
hole spacer a tool not to be without. Sure you can use a ruler, but this
accordion type hole spacer is so much easier and more accurate. A dimpler is
also included- a bit basic but works well with your hand rivet puller. The
pneumatic puller is also included and also works well. In summary Jean the
tool kit is a great start - everything is there when you need it. - Bob J

Terry did an excellent listing job. I would comment that the compressor
needs to have adequate volume and that varies greatly even at the same
horsepower. We found a 2hp at 7.8 cu ft/ min generally adequate but it
tripped off with two drilling. Also add a die grinder, 3' flex alum
yardstick, and belt sander, to Terry's list.

For light reading a copy of FAA publication AC43-13 1b is a must.

Thanks to everyone who answer me if I should buy the basic or deluxe tool kit from mam. I already have some good tools but to not waste time at the beginning I have already order the basic kit. I will complete at the time I will need the extra. Just as info, I have found and buy a air drill of 1/4" capacity that just weight 1.1 pound and turn at 2800 rpm. Very small. ( American Rodcraft model 4000). I expect my kit to come in today or tomorow. I am very anxious!!!! Again thanks to everyone and it is surely not the last time you answer some question!

One more little thing. Rip the sound system out of the neighbor kids car. And
take one of the magnets of the speaker, attach it to about a 3 ft. stick to
pick up all those steel mandrels from the rivets. It's much easier than
sweeping the things. :) :) :)

Note that the Avex flush pulled rivets are 120 degree head and dimplers
or countersinks should be the same. The #426 flush bucked rivets are
100 degree and should use that tooling.

I was just about to ask this question, how bizarre! I ordered my Rebel tail
last week and decided to shop around for my tools. This discrepancy between
100 and 120 degrees has come up several times, most noticeably in the tool
list posted in the archives, I believe by Terry Dazey. He lists 100 deg,
countersinks in there. I've been going over the archives and searching for
tools online for a week or so , and I cant find a #11 120 deg. cutter. Brown
Tool has #10, #30, and #40, but not #11. I can't seem to find drill stops in
#11 either. Is it OK to use #10 holes to replace #11, or should I keep
looking? As for dimplers I can't find 120 deg pulled ones listed anywhere.

At one time I think 120 degree puller dimplers were available but can't
now be found.
Wicks has the 120 degree microstop cutters as part ATS-120-40 for 3/32"
pulled rivets.
Cleaveland has 120 degree dimple dies for 1/8" pulled rivets as part
DIECS4-4.
Aircraft Spruce and Wicks both claim their 3/32" pull dimplers will work
for both bucked and pulled rivets.

Most places you can squeeze AD426 3/32" solid rivets where needed.
Those impossible places are mostly nut plates and the exact dimple angle
is not critical in my opinion.

While I'm at it Just Plane Hardware (formerly Freeman Aviation) has
hardware such as countersunk nutplates that I have trouble finding
elsewhere.
