Sealant safe paint stripper?

Post by Al & Deb Paxhia » Fri Feb 17, 2012 11:15 pm

Scott,
My experience with paint strippers is they only take a layer or two of
paint. If you take care around the seams there should not be a problem with
stripping to deep. Do a test strip in an area that does not matter.
The stripper that I have used is a Methyl Chloride base and is as bad as it
gets for a health hazard. There is other stripper out there but I don't know
what they are.

Subject: Sealant safe paint stripper?

Anyone know of paint stripper that could be used on floats and not mess up
the sealed seams?

Or have ideas on stripping floats?

Thanks,
Scott

Sealant safe paint stripper?

Try this !

http://www.napiere.com/markets/aviation.htm

Their product is water based, biodegradable, and
non-toxic, and supposedly works well!

I have not tried this stuff personally, but I have
talked to the factory, and the next time we strip an
entire aircraft, we sure are going to give it a try.
