I am planning on camping in the general aviation area at Oshkosh ,
does anybody out there know how early I will need to arrive to get a spot to put
up my tent?

AIRVENTURE CAMPING
AIRVENTURE CAMPING
I've camped there the last several years; it hasn't filled up totally.
My experience is thus:
- By Tues evening (the 1st day of AirVenture) it's pretty full
- Thursday--and for sure by Friday a.m.--quite a few folks that flew in
leave
- Friday p.m./Sat a.m. other folks fly in and things get moderately full
again--though not as full as they are on Tue
There is an 800 # posted on the AirVenture website that one can call
starting that Sat or Sun prior to the airshow that tells one how full
the GA camping is. Though things can change rapidly, calling the # is
an Ok indication.
Worse case, and I'd be absolutely stunned if, given the economy and
such, if GA camping fills up you can be virtually assured of getting a
GA overnight parking spot, and take your camping stuff to one of the car
camping areas that don't fill up at all.

AIRVENTURE CAMPING
The camping thing is not really a problem. It's the how far you want to walk/wait for a bus that your arrival time affects. If you get it on the floats the seaplane base is a great spot to camp! I'll probably be in the amphib parking with 97MR, to hang with some friends in a Goose. Curt
