Wayne - I took a look at your idea and it is pretty good - the only thing is
the Elevator is 2.5" thick and the servo shaft is about 5/8" down off the
surface - It might put some extra angle on it which I am hesitant to do - I'll
draw it up to see how the hole in the skin lays out - How much trim tab
up/down deflection do you expect to see?
Thanks -- Britt

Stupid Elevator Trim Tab Tricks
Stupid Elevator Trim Tab Tricks
Ever had a sinking feeling right before you finish something - I have the
elevator trim tab ready to rivet and thought it was strange that I have the
hinge on the bottom of the elevator (per the plans Figure 3.5.7) and I
remember seeing the hinge on the top surface - Duhh - I asked Brian if
anyone else had made that mistake and he said maybe but no one has admitted
it.
One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo Theory to
his buddy Norm. Here's how it went: "Well ya see, Norm, it's like this...A
herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the
herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are
killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole,
because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by
the regular killing of the weakest members. "In much the same way, the human
brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake
of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the
slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of
beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more
efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."
Maybe I need more beer -

Stupid Elevator Trim Tab Tricks
That is good and believe me I may! But then I have all those inspection
ports and the trim tab shaft up on top.
Maybe I'll leave it as it is and put a gap seal on the top side - Any
ideas??
Probably just end up bending a couple more ribs for the relocated trim tab
horn and leave it as is.
At this rate Alzheimer's will set in before I finish and I won't know the
difference.

BUT the elevator is pretty much concentric on the SR???
Flip the sucker over, make sure it fits your stab hinges and then you'll
have your trim tab on the right side. Don't make no difference really and a
lot better solution that starting over again!!
