Does anyone on list know of a shop that can expand exhaust pipes for my
912. I'm using S.S. which is about 11/4" O.D. and want to make a slip
joint, so I need to expand peices to 11/4 I.D. All the automotive shops
I've tried go as small as 11/2". There's got to be a place somewher, in
Canada please!
I know you can get the male and female ball joints, but they're about
$200 and I figure the slip joints will work fine and cost about 1/4 the
price.
Thanks,
Aurele

I never did find anybody with a decent selection in Canada but
http://burnsstainless.com/304tubing/Str ... ht304.html
has 1 3/8 o.d. in both .062 and .049 wall thickness. Taxes and shipping
is reasonable but additional cdn$38. brokerage from UPS bites for a
small order. The .049 is a bit loose but depends on exactly what you are
doing.
Bengelis suggests making your own by slitting and welding a larger
diameter tube. www.budgetexhaust.com in Burlington has some stock in
.062 wall thickness if you wanted to try that. Allow for lots of
shrinkage during welding.
Spruce has 1 3/4 inch captive ball joints for about US$17. Ken Brock
mfg. (see web site) is even cheaper but haven't seen those in any other
size.
Do some of the sites that specialize in rotax (Lockwood aviation?) list
slip joints?
