Heads UP - I had held off working on the Horizontal Stab per Mike Davis's
advice and just ordered a pair of EL403s so I could run the Rear spar
doublers full length rather than cutting them after the mid left and right
hinge points per plans - The shipping guy at MAM mentioned that all of the
SR3500 kits are now shipping with enough EL403 to do the H Stab doublers
full span - I have not seen any reference to this in the updates -

Elaine and crew,
2 things... first I finally started working on my kit this week (I've been
working for the last 9 months to get my shop far enough along to be able to
work on the Moose. Anyway, when I pulled everything out and started getting
organized I discovered I still had both copies of my inventory here. I
know... I'm a bad boy :-( I would suppose that late is better than never?
You do still want my "unpacking" inventory don't you? There were a few
discrepancies, and there were some items on back order also. So I suppose we
should get that all straightened out.
The second item is in regards to the forwarded message below. I was aware
that the factory demonstrator had some sort of a mod done to the stab due to
cracks/stresses, but have not seen anything about it in the tech support
section of your web site. Britt Reed informed me that the ST-403 rear spar
doublers are now full span. Since I am just now assembling my stab, I'd like
to get the updated doublers for this before I rivet everything together.
Thanks, Mike

shipping@murphyair.com into the "to" address for this message. I guess you

SR Horizontal Stab Spar
Just thought I'd pass on what Brian told me about this today. I was told
that the change to full span ST-403 doublers was simply to eliminate the
time they put into making 2 half span pieces, it is not related to beefing
up the stab at all. The modification Murphy made to their demonstrator to
correct the cracks they saw around their outboard hinges was to make about a
2" x 2" L out of 32 thous and wrap it from the outside of the end rib around
the corner and under the outboard hinge on the rear spar. Brian also said
that they had only seen these stresses on the radial engine with the 2
bladed paddle prop. They've never had a problem with a lycoming
installation, and he doesn't think the radial with a 3 bladed prop would
have the same problem either.
