baffling

Post by Murray and Carol Cherkas » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:55 pm

Hi ALL:

Please comment.

I am going to order my baffling from VAN'S. I'm sure it will fit alright
with a little customizing to fit the cowling. I think this will save a lot
of time.

Thanks

baffling

Post by Murray and Carol Cherkas » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:55 pm

Hello BOB J

Yes it is $190:00 us. This includes the aluminum baffle and the seal
material.I heard stories of this taking a long time. Just one less thing to
ponder and who knows how long to get finished.I would like to be flying this
summer if possible so I'm maybe a little inclined to take a few short cuts
to get finished.
Thanks for the info. Happy Flying

Murry & Carol, I built and am using the same aluminum style cowling ( 4
door) and nosebowl from the firewall forward kit supplied by Murphy. It also
came with the material to make the baffles along with templates. It only
took me a couple of evenings to make the baffles by first constructing
cardboard ones. In fact I actually only used half of the aluminum material
supplied as their "layouts" would have created a lot of waste. Of course my
engine and cowling where mounted on the Rebel in my basement at the time so
fitting was real easy. Your option of using 'Vans" may same some time but is
this not an expensive way to go? Bob J Rebel "652"

baffling

Post by Brian Cross » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:56 pm

Hi Murray

That is what I did. They have some decent instructions with the kit. But
it still takes time to do a nice job.
