Access holes in floor

Post by Rhodes » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:49 pm

Use a hole saw for cutting into the floor. Access covers available from Keith Kinden at Montana Float. 3 sizes 5" round, 3 x 5, 5 x 7 flush or not flush. $12 a piece.
If you want something very durable and fairly light to put over the floor check out Starfoam which is a composite plastic used in boat decks. Comes in several thicknesses - we are using 1/4" over the main cabin floor and by itself in the extended baggage. You can cut it, rout it, sand it. I may leave some floor access holes without covers as it will be covered by the Starfoam anyway.

Access holes in floor

Steve,

After a quick Google search, I'm not able to find anything about Starfoam.
Can you direct me to a manufacturer/dealer site, to get some details?
Sounds like some useful stuff.

Bill
