Hi to all

I have just purchased Bob Purkis Rebel on 1800 Amphibs and EJ-22 Subaru motor.
The first test flight with the new motor was on Sat Feb 15 and all went well.
The firewall did not have to be cut back and the CG is at 13.85" . If any one
has a rebel on wheel skis or know of any wheel skis for a rebel please post a
reply

Congratulations and I hope you enjoy it.
Where is the radiator on that one? Any powerplant photos you can post to
the website will always be appreciated. Let us know how she performs.

Ahh, I thought that name sounded familiar. I did see
that airplane with the cowls off at Arlington during
the airshow. Glad to hear it now has an owner that is
ready to fly and use it.

Hi Walter

Right now it is down in Arlington where it
had the subaru installed. I am
going to put a few hours on it down there
before I bring it back to Pemberton.
I have sixty acres so I will be keeping it
on my property as soon as I get a
hanger built but in the mean time I will be
keeping it at the Pemberton
airport at one of the new hangers there. The
rad is mounted between the front
wheel fittings, I have some pics but not
sure if they like them attached to
these messages in this forum.

I am planning to leave her on floats from
spring to fall and put her on some
retractable wheel skis for winter. Tyax air
has a beaver with some nice
looking skis on it that at the Pemberton
airport right now. So if anyone has
some plans for building wheel skis please let me know

Ray you can upload the pictures to this site separately from your emails. If
your not sure how send them to me and I'll resize them and put them up for you.
For wheel skis you want to talk to Wayne Oshea ...he builds a nice set but
they're not retractable. If you go here
http://rebel:builder@www.dcsol.com:81/default.htm they are in the files section.
When you get in just select new files for last 7 days and you can see Waynes
plane on his ski's.

Hi Ray !

Welcome to the group !! I'm sure you're going to have some
great times flying your Rebel - I know that every Rebel I've flown
with Subaru engines has been a delight !! They're smooth, strong,
and burn about 60 % of the fuel a Lyc. takes .... and it's mogas !
Stay with Shell if you can - as far as I know, they're the only Canadian
gas without any alcohol added ! (Alcohol eats some rubber gaskets,
and aluminum, apparently !)

Wayne O'Shea has made a couple of sets of wheel skis - this
last set for Ron Hamson looks great - a bit longer & narrower than
the originals. The Coghlin brothers made a couple of pairs years
ago, with all Delrin bottoms, and aluminum mounts. They worked
well, too, and are still flying AFAIK. These are wheel penetration
skis, not retractable.

Hi All

For those that wanted pics of my Subaru engine I have posted some in R.engine
and have put some in floats. I have finally got my C of A and have it at the
Pemberton airport. Next project is to get my hay cut and level my field so I
can park it at the house
