Well the long awaited updates to disable file attachments and strip HTML have
finally been applied to the list server. Nothing needs to be done on your
end... if you try sending an attachment, the system will simply reject your
message and send you a reminder. You'll need to resend your message without
the attachment... please remember to upload your files to the BBS, then simply
inform everyone via your message that you have done so. As for HTML... it
doesn't matter what format your message is written in, the message will be
distributed to the list in plain text format.
I hope this helps us avoid some of the problems and inconveniences we've seen
in the past.

Server updates
Made a lot of progress today working with the software developer regarding some of the problems I've seen with the server. Bottom line is it looks like the new high speed 64-bit server I built last year is the problem.
The software used for the list and archive site is all 32-bit software, and it has problems with how some things are done on a 64-bit system. We've identified exactly where the problem is, and I know how to fix it (will take another chunk of time), but there is no guarantee that it won't just break again at some point in the future.
So, what I may end up doing is building another system (already have it) but with a 32-bit operating system... and use it exclusively for the Wildcat software.
If I go that route there will probably be another interruption for a day or two... but I doubt I will do anything for a couple of weeks. I've got a big IMAC competition coming up on the 21st, and a new motor in my airplane to break in. (www.mini-iac.org for those who don't know what IMAC is).
