Moose MOD's

Post by Legeorgen » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:36 pm

Hi Bob,

That's what I like about you Bobp ... you always look at the bright side! I do understand the frustration of the SR builders, as it seems there is always a new fix for them. But I must concur with you, Bobp, there is a great benefit in MAM doing all the R&R before you all get done building.

Cheer up Warren. Better all these fixes now than after you have it complete just wanting to fly it only to have it back in the shop for repair MOD's.

Moose MOD's

Post by mike.davis » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:36 pm

I started this list just over 5 years ago now because I wanted to gather as
many of the "trade secrets" together as I could before I started my own
project. It's been an interesting progression watching the growth of shared
knowledge as to what were "necessary" mods to make the Rebel what everyone
seemed to want it is today.

The Super Rebel being availble for just over a year when the list started was
a virual unknown, but we are now at about the same point that the Rebel was
when the list started... There are more of them flying everyday, and those
flying are building more and more hours. For those already flying, there may
be some reverse engineering in your future, but I haven't heard of a Rebel
driver yet who got rid of his airplane because he thought the necessary
updates were beyond the value of their time.

There's one thing that I always tell people interested in the plane... it's
not perfect, the manual could use some work, but I've never heard of anybody
with a finished project who didn't absolutely love it! And compared to the
competition, I still think it's the best option in its category.

It was 10 years almost to the day from the first time I saw a Rebel, to the
day I picked my kit up at the factory. During that time there were a lot of
other kits that I got excited about when I discovered them... but when the
research was done, I always came back to Murphy.

Mike,
And if you do all of the building, painting, panel, etc. yourself it will be
about 10 more until you get that SR flying.
Keep up the good work on this list!
Good luck you'll need it,

No progress to report on 195SR... still got a few walls to finish on the
shop. It's been warm in Fairbanks, but not warm enough to work on a metal
airplane without heat in the shop!
