Another new little feature on the system is SSL (secure socket layer)
support. This won't make a difference for most of you, but there are a few
members who have not been able to access the archive web site from work
because it is on port 81, and their firewall won't allow them to connect on
this non-standard port. I can't understand why they didn't just go to their
IT department and tell them to modify the firewall so they can read their non-
work related messages at work. ;-)
Anyway, for those this may apply to, or to users who have set up there own
accounts and would like to have their password encrypted, you can now point
your browser to the following link:
https://www.dcsol.com/login?mode=HTML
This will connect you to the system using 128-bit encryption... once
connected, everything else is the same. I'll get additional links on my web
site at the appropriate places to allow the choice in the near future.
Mike
P.S. Since I don't use this system to generate revenue, and it's $895 a year
to get a "trusted" certificate for the SSL connection, I have just created my
own certificate. If you log in you will be prompted to continue when you
receive this certificate. This is my certificate, I generated it myself, so
you really can trust it! You can either click yes, or click more info for the
option to install it on your system so you won't have to click yes everytime.
