Concerning the moose:
There was a couple of things that I had fixed before painting my plane after
10 months and 120 hours. One was the ribs at the end of the stabs as the
strakes attach to these and they were cracked (I am on floats with radial).
The factory punched out some new ones for me out of thicker material and
extrusions were fashioned to support the new rib. This was also true for
the outter ribs on both wings, there was small cracks in the outer ribs
where the ailerions attach. The cause is the tight radius of the thin rib
being pinched tight - again an extruision was fashioned and the radius
removed. These cracks are not isolated to float or radial use, I have
confirmed them in other non float equipmed flat head planes aswell. Should
be a factory AD but I have not seen one. The other area that has been
reported is the trim tab on elevator, some have developed cracking in the
skin - I have installed a fix provided by factory even though mine did not
show any issues. Since I am new to the email list I might as well list all
the problems - the V-Brace on flat head and radials break - contact Brian
for a better design (or Robin as Brian is not aviable). It is possible to
install after wings are on - but much better before wings are installed.
Some have reported issues with the flap tube rivets working loose -
although I have not seen this yet. I should also not that one builder
reported rudder cable scuffing where the cable passes through the fire
wall -
some builders have fixed this issue by placing the pulleys aft of the fire
wall. Care should be given to provide proper passage of the cable through
the firewall to avoid cable damage.

I saw pictures of someone that reinforced the end rib on the horizontal
stabilizer of the moose in the archives. Was the outboard rib made
with 4130 or stainless steel ? also did you reinforce the spars that
is attached to it .
