Yes!!! they are Bob and Greg Mansell at Leavens is still waiting to see
it/them!!! He is fully aware that it is <your> aircraft now, and stated
(again) just last Friday that he will take what ever measures are needed to
stand behind what Leavens sold me (and you!). If there is a problem with the
mag, it will be overhauled AGAIN or replaced with another one at no cost.
(This is quite good/amazing considering the engine was delivered 23 months
ago, so don't wait too long as who knows how long an employee is going to be
around!) They do want to do engine business with us homebuilders and
definitely want repeat customers. I only went to ATC this time because John
had an engine in house, ready to overhaul, where as Leavens had nothing in
stock (nor could Greg find a Conical core). The bonus is, now I will be able
to compare two shops workmanship and hopefully have two great sources of
engines!

Subject: RE: New Rebel with spring gear
----Thanks Curt !!
I <WILL> do that - one day..... The mags are still under warranty
(I hope), so I'll just get it fixed for now, but I'm completely
convinced that the LightSpeed or LASAR systems would be an improvement.
I <might> chicken out a bit, and just switch ONE over - then I could have
the best of both worlds. I'd really like the extra power & economy
that the extra advance would give !
SO many things to do - so little time !! First project is to
get a set of Dave Fife's wing tips on, with landing lights in them.
Next is gear leg fairings, then a complete paint job, then Amphibs ....
Might be a while before I get to the electronic ignition ! ;-)
Looking forward to seeing you guys at the Rebel Builders
Meeting on Nov. 12th - hope the weather's good !!!

One way to really improve that Lyconosaursus is to update the Mag

ifThe Klause Saiver or the Jeff Rose system. I think tht they both have a
system that now just goes into the Mag hole instead of having to put the
pickup coils under the flywheel. Either way I do believe that the cost
difference will be made up in fuel savings and the cost of Aviation plugs
hadyou go to the better automotive type sparkplugs. Fyi, neither system has
