Rebel elevator horns

Post by allsure » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:02 pm

G'day

I am fitting the elevator control horns and have found a few problems.

1. When tighten the bolts holding the bearing blocks onto the FUS 31, the blocks distort so much that the horns bind up.

2. I also noticed that the FUS 31 oilcans quite a bit under the control horns.

Has anyone encountered this?

I would appreciate some assistance.

Thanks and regards

Ian Donaldson

Ian,

I experienced the same thing with the elevator control horn. I believe I was
over torque the bolts. They are AN3 bolts (if I remember correctly) and
require only 15 to 20 inch lb. of torque. It never feels right to me when I
tighten AN3 bolts because they never seem tight enough, so I always want to
over torque them. The FUS 31 will still oil can some but I assume it is not a
problem. Maybe one of the other more experienced build can help you there.

Ian, I had the same problem as the the blocks seem to both angle inwards
. I have put a angle across front and back of the horn this holds the
blocks up straight and gives me something to mount a stop on ,hope this
make sense
