I'm totally satisfied with my prop, at 56", on the 150 hp
O-320. It will just hit 2,700 rpm in level flight - first time
I've EVER had a Lyc. that would actually turn to red line !!
It climbs like crazy (over 1,200 fpm), and cruises about
118 mph, with no gear leg fairings, which wil add another 10 mph,
when I get them on...
My firewall is NOT cut back, and the CofG is just over 8",
and there's NO problem with the handling, even low on fuel & solo !
This arrangement is great, because everything you put inside moves
the CofG back, so there's no problem with the large stacks of
camping gear I carry !
Generally, wood props will not perform as well as metal -
perhaps 5% (or more) less efficient. They also require more care,
especially outside. I would go with the Sensenich metal prop...
(If you use the <standard> cowl, you won't need that 2" spacer)

If I read your description about Howard's Rebel and his 74x52 Sensenich, and
he keeps up with the 160 HP Rebels with Warp drives (assuming the WD are
pitched for max cruise at red line), then the Sensenich 74x56 is the ticket
of choice, one would think. I am still waffling on the prop choice. Metal is
not an option for me (I'll change someday if I get floats), I'm afraid of the
C&G. But I am considering a wood Sensenich 74x56. Is it reasonable to assume
similar performance from the wood prop? The price is right too!
