This fellow is building an Elite and has asked what is
the perfect flap setting for taking off from the water
on floats. He is setting his up with separate flap and
aileron droop controls. I'm not sure if the Rebel is
the same as the Elite, but with mine I usually use 1/2
flaps for take-off. However, I have never done the full
tests with different weights and power settings to
absolutely confirm what is the best setting. So I said
I would ask you guys to see if anyone has figured this
out for their Rebel.

Flaps angles for Elite
Flaps angles for Elite
Hi Walter !
I dunno what the 'perfect' flap setting is - I always
used full flap for takeoff, on wheels and floats !
Of course, I dropped a notch for best climb, after
about 50 feet or so, so your using 2 notches all the way
would be less fiddly than my way.

Flaps angles for Elite
Thanks Bob, I couldn't give him anything concrete
either. My float take-off runs depend more on how good
I am with hitting the sweet spot, wind and weight than
my flap setting, so I wasn't a lot of help. When I get
chance sometime, I still want to do some experimenting
with partial power and loaded up, and then maybe I can
determine which flap setting is best.
