[rebel-builders] Avionics shelf in tail - mounting AHRS unit etc

Post by Ron Shannon » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:25 pm

Well fiddle faddle. Although there is no reference to this in the AFS
documentation, there is some discussion on the AFS support forum about
separation, including 2 ft. separation being optimal, as recommeded by
Crossbow. However, Rob Hickman, AFS founder/owner, has his 10" apart in his
RV-10. (*http://tinyurl.com/dzv7td)* Looks like I'll be building a new,
extended base plate, so I can set the second one further aft, cantilevered
behind the bulkhead. A PITA, but doable. Thanks for the heads up.

Ron,
I am surprised that your mags are so close together. I was told that
mine (Blue Mountain Sport) should be at least two feet apart.
