[rebel-builders] Main Cabin Floor

Hi Charlie: I have built three Rebels to date and have not found the floor
to be a problem. On my 1st, I installed light weight "Van" carpeting to help
protect it which was quite adequate. Some fellows have put down a temporary
light sheet of plywood in the baggage area if hauling heavier equipment.
That's the nice thing about home building - the choice is yours. JMHO. Bob J

bulkheads and the floor channels in the main cabin area. Installing the
floor (Fus- 47) is next. With all the feet and baggage activity in this area

I am concern about it only being .020 thick. I could reduce the spans by
adding more channels but that's a lot of extra work and don't think that
would make it any more dent resistant. Increasing the thickness to .032
would help but add an extra 2-1/2 Lbs. Maybe I am trying to solve a problem
that does not exist? Would appreciate hearing what some of you guys may have

done?

Hi Charlie I just followed the plans and have never had any problems with
my floor. When I crawl back into the tail to visit my battery or ELT I try
to keep my knees over a channel while I climb into the baggage area but
once lying down my (not insignificant) weight is well enough distributed.

Thanks for the good news. I am trying to build my Rebel at 1320 Lbs. so
using the .020 floor material I have will help.
