Switchcraft connectors

Post by Ron Shannon » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:02 pm

Rob,

The Switchcraft weather tight connectors I used for the elevator trim were
ordered from DigiKey, their part numbers:

SC1179-ND female 5-pos inline receptacle (jack)
SC1161-ND male 5-pos inline plug

You can cross reference from those numbers to the Switchcraft part numbers
from http://dkc3.digikey.com/PDF/T083/P0393.pdf The part numbers can be
confusing, because both the plug and jack forms can be either male or
female, etc. They are available with from 2 to 7 contacts. Each contact is
rated for 7.5A, and they are extremely lightweight. You can also get
bulkhead (chassis mount) style jacks. You could also get them from Mouser
Electronics which now has a better web site, IMHO.

I'm also using them for LED NAV & landing light wing root connections, and
the 3-pos version for fuel tank sender connections.

By the way, do you happen to have the part numbers for the 5-pin
Switchcraft connectors you bought? I'm about to finish off the
trim/elevator
and wanted to get the wiring done before closing the surface. Did you use
grommets/protection as the wire passed through the ribs?

It doesn't really matter much for choice of connectors but FWIW, to be
accurate, my own wing light connections are actually at the bottom of the
struts, not at the wing roots.
