Fus 30 Doubler and Fus 36

Post by David Jackson » Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:21 pm

I am currently rebuilding the tailcone and will be doubling up the Fus 30 completely. When I go to mount the tail the interface at the fus 36/fus 29/ fus 30 is tricky to line up and cleco particularly with the fus 31 in place. I was wondering if there is any reason why I shouldn't drill extra holes in the Fus 36 tabs through the fus 29, dimple them and then flush rivet the fus 36 and fus 29 together before I mount the doubled up fus 30. It will give me some extra strength at the fus 29/fus 36 interface and will make the chore of fitting the tail cone much smoother.
Has anyone tried this or does anyone have some thoughts why it would not be a good idea? I will have to have the fus 89s in place before I rivet the fus 36 (one piece bulkhead).

Thanks

Dave Jackson
