Moose RP-13-2 rudder pedal blocks

Folks,

I am getting ready to cut my RP-13-2 in half in order
to mount the rudder pedals to the floor. As far as I
can tell, sawing them in half with remove some
material equivalent to the thickness of the bandsaw
blade.

Have others been putting a washer or shim between the
two halves, or am I "over-sciencing" this!?
