In the USA it is correct that an experimental aircraft can not be used commercially. However, I believe an owner can hire a CFI to instruct him in his own plane after flyoff. Same as if you hired a test pilot to do a first flight series. After the flyoff time you could lend the plane to a friend for instruction. The operative point is no money or value can change hands as compensation for aircraft use. Anyone contemplating hiring a CFI can check with the EAA for confirmation of the above.

PS- There is a procedure to use an experimental for flight instruction of others in your experimental aircraft but it is so onerous that it seldom happens.
