OOPS ... scratch that last e-mail - I just realised I had missed the prices as they were on the "How to order" page ...

G'day again Bob ...
I just realised (whilst re-reading this e-mail) - that you said Prince's prop' would be :
"Something like a 76 x 44 (or 45, or 46) inch Prince would be close to what you want for 150/160 hp. ...."
A 76" dia' !?!?!?!?
HELL ..... if Prince's "P-Tip" is like adding another 2" (as he states on his webpage)..... that would make it equivalent to a 78" "normal" prop' !?!
(or am I misunderstanding something here ?)
I wrote to Lonnie about 3 days ago & asked about the cost of a prop for a Rebel with approximately 170ish HP - with an expected "cruise speed" of around 105 Knots .... but as yet, he has not replied ....
(I also tried to find costs of his propellers through other places - all to no avail :o(
Do you know roughly what a Prince prop costs to suit a Rebel such as ours (170ish HP & on wheels WITH spats on all 3 wheels) ?
( there seems to be two models ..... WOOD with a composite P-Tip and also WOOD CORE with composite covering & P-Tip ... yes ?)
Thanks Bob !

Hi Rick !
Don't think you'll have too much luck - think that nobody
is making Warnke's anymore, and the Prince is a thin &
complex shape. Because they change pitch, the numbers
for Prince are quite different from others ! Something
like a 76 x 44 (or 45, or 46) inch Prince would be close
to what you want for 150/160 hp. ....
The principle is the same as the old scimitar props
used in WW I, though - and that, you might be able
to make yourself. The Prince is kind of a bat-wing
shape that approximates a scimitar, but easier to
make - and you could skip the winglets....
Maybe if you did a standard prop layout, and extended
the middle of the leading edge forward about 2 - 3",
tapering back in the center & more outboard, you could get
some of the extra pull that twists the blade under load ....
A LOT of trial-and-error - but might be fun & educational !!
You could maybe use a standard prop blank & add the
extra with extra wood, & modelling clay or plaster to get
a rough shape for testing ... just as a pattern for the
cutting machine. Suspect the blade would have
to be a bit thinner for twisting ... mainly outboard.
Keep us posted !

C'mon people ....
SOMEONE "out there" must have an unwanted WARNKE or PRINCE propeller
that roughly suits a Rebel with 160ish HP in it - (wrong pitch, diameter
etc), or broken (with one of the blades still OK - to take measurements from)
that I could possibly borrow or buy !?!
Have you got "a spare" that I could use for copying purposes ?!?
Remember - I am willing to get it freighted to Australia & back at MY
expense !

Subject: REBEL propeller ?!?
G'day Everyone !
I am REALLY interested in making a "Warnke styled propeller" OR
a "Prince P-Tip styled propeller" for our Rebel ...
So ..........
1) Does anyone have EITHER a Warnke OR a Prince propeller that they
don't want - for WHATEVER reason - that they are wlling to sell OR
to "lend me" to try out ??? - (I'll arrange the transport from
you - to
me & back again)
2) Does anyone have a DAMAGED Warnke OR Prince propeller that I
can either BUY or BORROW - (I'll arrange the transport from you -
to me & back again)
(I'd like to "have a go" at making my own version of either .... yes,
I AM a glutton for punishment :o(
Hopefully yours
