[rebel-builders] Rebel Questions: tail wrap; engine fit; riveter modificati

Yup - I'm only talking with the wing cuff as that is all that I have
experience with. One or two degrees of extra nose up puts extra lift on
the stab which may be part of why I have a bit of up elevator all the
time. I'm not really concerned with that at all on wheels as I'm very
happy with the performance and handling. I'm just guessing that it is
going to mean an even higher throat angle on floats to benefit from the
new wing shape on takeoff. Other guys have mentioned similar.

My wing bottom is parallel to the fuselage bottom. If I had it to do
again I was thinking that I'd lower the rear wing brackets in the
fuselage. My memory is that they would have been easier to install
anyway if lowered a bit. Complications would be the fairings as the wing
would not match the fuselage top and the lower fairing would conflict
with the window top if using the standard door. However I just did the
math and lowering it a haf inch would only add 0.6 degrees so that is
perhaps not worth the effort.

Ken,
I was thinking about all the comments about increasing throat angle on
floats to get off the water quicker, and I wondered if anyone tried
increasing wing incidence. Your comment about high deck angle in cruise
reinforces the idea that maybe the standard incidence is too low. I guess
you are specifically talking about Rebels with cuffs, but it seems like a
stock wing might benefit from more incidence as well, especially since
everyone seems to cruise with up elevator. I don't remember seeing the
recommended incidence anywhere, but if you did increase it, how much would
you try? Do you know what yours currently is?
I haven't permanently set my rear attach points yet, or built the fairing
boxes, so I might be a willing guinea pig.
