Good to hear the aileron issue is back on the back burner!
The leakage numbers are hard for me to tie down for an engine that isn't broken
in yet although I don't have a whole lot of experience doing differential
leakdown as you describe it. It might be interesting to do an ordinary
compression test as a second opinion though.
The oil at the head bolts is however a concern and a warning sign that something
is not right. I had forgotten that you had mentioned that before. If it was
mine I think I'd be on the phone to Rodek & the manufacturers of the heads &
gaskets to make sure all these parties agree that you have the right parts &
assembly methods. The phone call is a lot less work than taking it apart and
staring at it ;-) If I recall some of the aftermarket blocks require some of
the head bolt threads be sealed with a goop but I don't know about what you
have. I remember someting about head studs (not you case though) giving leaking
problems too if they were torqued like bolts............
I'm sure this is all common sense to you, hopefully it'll get you off in the
right direction.

I did a differential compression test on two cylinders today. One on each
side of my V8. 62/75 on one side and 65/75 on the other. (75 instead of 80
because my automotive tool has a chart for percentage leakage based on 75)
That's not good. I didn't even bother checking other cylinders at that
point. Low compression along with the oil that collects on the head bolts
when running the engines, I now believe, not that my head gaskets are blown,
but rather my head gaskets are not the right ones. I'm going to make some
phone calls, make sure I use the correct gaskets, and install new ones
tomorrow. I'm hoping that my cooling problems will either go away or
improve significantly once that's done.

I remember my Elite being that way after I rigged them. I mentioned it to
Robin at MAM and he didn't think it was an issue. Do you have the lever
assembly riveted in on the ends of the control tubes at the root of the
fuselage? I think there is some flex there since I only have a couple clecos
there, I since pulled 2 small rivets in them temporarly and that seem to
help some. I haven't looked at it that close in a several months but I think
I have the same result you have in my shop.

My ailerons also have a bit of freeplay (N96CS a SR). Most seems to come
from the pulley on the cabin side of the wing root (a sort of twisting
movement), also the "bat shaped" mixer plate on the cabin roof allows some
movement of the push rods. I have tightened everything and eliminated
most
of the slop, but there is still some. Just returned from a 16 hour trip
from the FL Gulf coast to OSH and though fairly stable (even in IFR
conditions), I wish I could make the ailerons tighter and more effective.

I can't believe I have another major problem! I hooked up the left
aileron
with the wing to fuselage push-pull rod and when moving the stick I
noticed
the aileron bouncing a bit when I stopped moving the stick. I tied the
stick down and with it held in place I can move the aileron a full inch
at
the trailing edge! I tried to narrow down where the worst of it is being
caused which I really need a second person to help do. Aileron to the
wing
root end of the torque rod seems solid as a rock. The worst of it seems
to
be the push-pull rod I just hooked up but again it's hard to be sure
without
a second person to hold things. The frustrating thing is I reviewed the
entire system against the manual and I have built it exactly as described
in
the manual. Every builder should have run into the same problem. There
should be a "to avoid excessive free play the builder should take care
to..." entry in the manual. HELLLLLPPPPP!
Went out to the hangar today and after weeks of no sign of leaks from the
tanks the left wing tank is leaking now!
What next?
