air filters
air filters
I do indeed have a K&N on our Elite. It is mounted in a Van's O-360 air intake box. It was used because I have had good experience with K&N's on motorcycles and trucks. As a big plus, the Van's airbox filters all the air including carb heat air. The filter is a large round unit and should offer much less restriction than stock.
Now the bad news. The Van's airbox will require a "bump" on the left side of the speed cowl for clearance as well as some creativity to mate it to the square MAM air intake area. Our solution will be to graft a Van's air intake onto the bottom of the speed cowl for clearance. It will add a larger and better shaped hot air exit as well. Probably will add at least 50 knots of airspeed in addition to the extra build hours.
