FYIW
I bought the MAM firewall forward kit and new Lycoming O-540 & Hartzell prop
(through Murphy) - some few years ago. Good price at the time on the engine
and prop. When all was finished I had a number of FWF parts (hardware and
hoses) left over, but still was much cheaper and less work than doing it all
myself. The cowl took a lot of cutting & fitting - but I guess this is normal.
As far as the baffles -- they furnished some paper patterns that weren't
too accurate. I ended up making about three sets of cardboard patterns, then
even ended up re-making several baffle sections that still needed tweaking.
The rear ones were especially frustrating and had to be re-made several times
to fit. Lots of trials and lots of errors.
