Hi Jesse !
This is ABSOLUTELY an issue with the Rebel !! And you should
NEVER move an aircraft by pushing on a flying or control surface -
even if you have seen others get away with it !!!!!
I saw an aircraft that landed after practicing spins - someone
pushed on the vertical fin, and it swung free !!! The tube was
cracked completely through, and only the fabric had held it !!!
Seen many examples of potentially fatal airframe damage from poor
ground handling in over 34 years of instructing ! This is one of
my really big 'pet peeves' !!
I know lots of people do this - that does not make it smart !
The Rebel tail section is plenty strong enough for air loads,
but was never intended for ground handling - if you are going to
push it around much, get those handles ! Or at least push on the
fuselage side, at a bulkhead, or push/pull on the wing struts
near the ends..... NEVER on the stab or fin !

pushing gently on the horizontal/vertical stab. I can see for heavier
airplanes like the Moose/SR it would be necessary though.

One comes out each side for double the handling pleasure. I don't know
what MAM is getting for them now, they may be on the web site. (Nancy's
doing a good job uprating it!) Seems like over US$200 some years ago.
It would be possible to add a through tube and a separate removable
through handle but the fuselage area would have to be reinforced to
take the load. I don't want to have any more loose items to contend
with. Remember, these are not just for hangar use but also for those
one way in / out runways. Regards,
Ralph Baker
