Castle nuts and cotter pins are the only way to go in my opinion. To much risk that the nuts would begin to back off and not b caught during preflight. With cotter pins, if they are in place the nut hasn't moved with respect to the bolt.

This like "over water roughness". If I used Nylocs it would be a worry in the air to me.
