Hi all
Just fitted the right elevator skin to the spar and ribs combination,
Guess what?
Found that the angled inboard rib of the elevator (that allows full
rudder travel) does not extend to the rearmost pre-drilled hole on the
trailing edge of the elevator skin!
The other ribs are fine and reach--because they are perpendicular to the
spar--to the rearmost pre-drilled holes in the trailing edge.
Been told that the structural integrity of the elevators is not effected
and to just put a rivet in the unused holes and press on. But that
leaves and open space between the end of the rib and the trailing edge
of the skin. Unsightly.
Comments on a fix or other observations would be welcome
Thanx all

After you hang the rudder it's really hard to see that gap. Plus if you
filled it in you'd have to install a vent/drain.

Rebel Elevator
Hi Brian !
Perfectly standard ! Some builders have made a metal filler,
but you need an opening anyway, to let water out -
- most just leave it ! :-)
The old original tail tips also were left open at the
trailing edge .... also some of the wing tips ! :-(

Rebel Elevator
Ahoy all!
Just finished the elevator mod to prevent skin flexing/cracking at the outer end of the spar as per the photos in the archives.
Question. Is there a valid reason, or need, to apply the same mod to the Rudder Horn? Or is it a waste of time to do it because there is no lead weight in that horn?
Thanx all
