I'd like to get some opinions on where the best location is to mount the stubby
transponder antenna on the Rebel. I recall seeing some photo's with the antenna
mounted on the underside between the firewall and the carrythrough tubes.

Rebel-Txpdr Antenna Location
Just got my Garmin 320A and the minimum distance from antenna to unit is 3'.
Had a coax cable in my wire bundle hidden under the floor and also noted
that "under no circumstances should the cable be included in a bundle. Must
be at maximum distance from other wire within dash." Also noted that the
coax cable requirements for the tranx is different than the radio.

Rebel-Txpdr Antenna Location
Hi Roger
That's where I've put mine - and I copied off Walter :-)
I also made a doubler for it that was part of the doubler and support setup
for the pulley used to feed the cable to lift the water rudders up....again
copied from Walter :-)

Rebel-Txpdr Antenna Location
Rick, Steve, and Nigel,
Thanks for the help. I checked Walter's website and couldn't see his txpdr
antenna location in any of his photos. Nigel, it sounds like you may have it
mounted to the left or right side? As opposed to on/near the centerline? Any
issues with regard to structure (gear legs, lower cowling) blocking reception?

Rebel-Txpdr Antenna Location
Hi Roger
It's located just to the left (about 1/2") of the centre square tubing floor
stiffener that runs from the firewall back to the carrythrough's. It's about
6" forward of the carrythrough's, so certainly nearly central on the forward
floor area.

Carrythrough's
X marks the spot on the forward floor pan (if the diagram comes through OK
on the group)
