As you know about 15 rebels on the island. Most have full lotus.I hate the look.Only two sets off murphy floats. Both owners say rebel is under floated with the 1800.I can get a new set off wipair clones professionally built ready to bolt on for $19,000.00.

"Both owners say rebel is under floated with the 1800"

Yes it is when loaded to over 2000 lbs!!!! :O)))

Mine sits nice and high in the water at just shy of 1800lbs. I can't see
even another 200 making it undesirable...especially when we're really
supposed to be topping out at 1730lbs gross.

Cheers,
Wayne

Mine is bumped to that weight as well Alvin...and if my aircraft wasn't
paperwork legal at these weights I wouldn't be typing those weights on a
public forum..TFSure. In the certified world....1800 floats are legal at
2000lbs GW..but not a lb more. Mind you in the homebuilt world you don't
have to follow the bouyancy rule...smart if you do...but not a legal
requirement in CARS.

I understand the Easterners are happy on the Lotus floats due to landscape
and salt water issues...even though I am told they are like flying on sand
paper. Maybe you have enough inside information from your local friends to
dispell that rumour. I've never flown on them.

Cheers,
Wayne
