FUS weak points Rebel/Elite

Post by Alan Hepburn » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:35 am

Gary:

I'm have just completed an Elite, so I'll leave the final word to Wayne, who
is the Rebel expert, but I think you'll find that all of the mods suggested
are a good idea. The nose certainly tends to oil can. You can see it if
you grap the tail stinger of an amphib version and rock the tail up and
down.

As for the skylights, I think the problem may be due to flexing of the
ceiling structure caused by actuating the flaps, and I have a totally
different flap setup, with no mechanism up there at all, so I did not bother
with the doublers. I hope I'm right, because putting doublers in later
means removing the windshield, though I might be smart to bond them in place
with epoxy before I go flying.

Other weak areas seem to be the flap control hanger and the corner wraps
just aft of the cabin. FUS-452s will help the latter.

Today I got my Princeton fuel level sensors calibrated, so now I'm waiting
for the paperwork before going flying.

Regards, Al
