Ontario Mods

Post by bransom » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:58 am

With Bob's recent reference to the "Ontario Mods" I thought I'd go back
through the archive and make a note of what they are. Searching for Ontario
Mod in the Subject turns up zilch, and in Body turns up scattered pieces.
Would anyone be so kind as to put up the generally accepted Ontario Mods in
one place, such as in a reply under this subject?
Thanks very much,
Ben/ 496R

If you go here http://wrayt.tripod.com/construction.html under other
stuff you'll see the upgraded corner wraps, the old fus 22 doubler,
Firewall stiffeners, flost fix stuff, gull wing doors etcs. Probably not
all the stuff but some of it anyway.

GARY MULREADY

Ontario Mods

Post by GARY MULREADY » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:58 am

I have tried to do a search for the "Ontario Mod" but come up with very little. So I stated searching for mods and have listed what I have found below. I agree that it would be of great help if all the mods that have been done where in one location. This would help new builders like myself gain from the knowledge of more experience builders.

-Irish Field Aviation Firewall Reinforcing Plates

-MAM

I have added a "Modifications" file area to each aircraft's group, good
place for photos and or instructions.

-MAM "Float Fix" Channel

-Mckenzies STOL Mod

-Spring Gear Mod skin layering - Rebel

-Welded alum tank mod

-Aileron spade mod

-The Fus-30 doubler, at the tail post to tail spring bulkhead area.

-Tail Wheel Mod

-Bungee gear pivot mod

-Door mod

-Elevator Skin-rib reinforce outer edge

-Die Spring Gear

-Cabin Floor Stiffeners

-Fife Hoerner wing tips

-The only other things you'll need are 4 or 5 extra ST-28's, and one
extra FUS-30 - these are needed for "The Ontario Mods"

-There's an extra fitting that goes inside the float
bulkhead that MAY be included now (it was on the Elites)

-Float Fix Doubler slipped under Fus-9

-Corner Wraps

Aileron Mod is not for the Rebel.

Absolute >NO....NO....NO< to the welded tank mod!

Double pitched all the rivets up the forward door post, but the top 5 are
too close together to do so..so upgrade them to 3/16 RV-1613's

Thanks Wayne for the information. This is just what I mean by the more experience builders helping the new builders. Mike now has setup a section for the mods; I hope that the builders that have build and modified their Rebels will put the information in this section. This will go a long way into making the Rebel better for all of use to enjoy.

Thanks

I hear you Gary...only so many hours in a day and I've posted most every mod
there is... as well as uploading the pictures to boot.

Just looked at my email totals, as I moved the rest of 2004 inbox into a
folder. Sent box is 14,292 messages in 5 years. 2497 of those are strictly
to the builders list and I didn't start posting there 'till very late in
2000...so over 600 messages per year!!

Cheers,
Wayne

Ontario Mods

Post by snowyrvr@mtaonline.net » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:21 pm

Someone said one of the needed mods was to replace FUS-25 with an .040
piece. I've seen doubling FUS-26 or replacing it with .040 but not FUS-25.
Anyone shed some light?
Thanks.
