MAM Customer Satisfaction

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:58 am

I have no idea who was working the booth..as the last "big" event I went to
was Osh '95 ! As for arrogance I thought DW was gone..but maybe someone took
his place with the same personality. Anyhow, chances are that this
individual that "greeted you" may very well be gone from the MAM staff by
now and now longer an issue....even though of course it left a lasting
scare.

I'll probably catch some flack for this...but you have to take the grumbling
and whining on this mail list with a bucket of salt and then strain it
through a fine mesh screen and draw your own conclusions. Some complain
about service (even I've done that in the past for getting stuff shipped
out...but believe me it's better now than it ever was... since 1993!) and
the biggest grumble seems to be the manuals...although I've never really
bothered to read it from cover to cover. They all stop short of the airplane
really being finished and that's a big complaint.....but with this mail list
it's not really an issue. Other issues are upgrades that are not fully
communicated to all the builders...but that again with the help of the
internet is getting better all the time with timely postings of most
information. By the time you get to your Moose it would be clear sailing for
you.

Are you telling me that the Van's manuals are perfectly idiot proof? Totally
descriptive from start to finish to build the bird? There are no Van's
builders complaining about the company on other mail list forums? I really
doubt it and know from almost 20 years of experience supplying the
automotive industry, and numerous other product lines, that customers are
very hard to keep happy...no matter how many hoops you jump though to
please/appease them!

Cheers,
Wayne

Subject: MAM Customer Satisfaction - was SAFETY ALERT SR/Moose Quick Build

I'm just a lurker on this e-mail list as I dream of one day building a
Moose
and flying to Alaska, but it seems to me that there are plenty of issues
with MAM and disgruntled customers.

I anxiously went to the Murphy tent last year at SNF to get more info on
the
Moose. I don't remember the name of the gentleman at the booth, but my
first
impression was one of arrogance. My wife felt the same way. I was eager
to
ask questions and get some information and all he was interested in was
selling me a brochure. Most companies are eager to get their pamplets and
information out to the public for free yet they feel the need to charge
for it. I
understand they probably get a bunch of tire kickers, but I have built
and
flew 2 planes and I'm working on my third so I have some idea of what I'm
talking about.

I hope my impressions are wrong, but I was looking for what others are
experiencing before I decide to spend my money.
