ROTEC RADIAL
Bob, Check out the following link for a 400hp radial. That may be enough hp.
http://www.gesoco.com/engines/m14pf.html
Not sure, but they may make a smaller version. These M14p are bullet proof
and they have plenty of parts and have made more of these engines than
Lycoming and Continental put together. (At least thats the offical,
unoffical word.)

Hi Bobby !
The Vedeneyev (sp ??) people DO make a 3 cyl. version, about 120 hp.,
but it's basically an M14 with a few missing jugs !!! Sturdy, but a bit heavy
for a Rebel, and possibly there'd be a bit of a problem finding a suitable
propeller, and maybe some vibration issues. ;-) :-)

rotec radial
Forwarding this to the list for those that are interested in having a
radial powered Rebel. I asked about this engine quite a while ago and ended
up on their mailing list. If anyone is interested I have a couple pictures
I can send directly or put up on the site.
I can't tell you how excited the entire factory staff is with this
engine. Paul and Matt are both working back most days only because the
whole project has got to them.
The engine was completed and mounted on a test stand yesterday - the
guys couldn't help themselves and had to start it! - just a short spurt
before all the testing and checking starts. Attached are the pics of the
engine with a test club on it - we are going to spin it up with a small
prop first up and graduate to the larger prop hub and prop in the second
phase.
Here is what Paul had to say on the first start up (the afternoon of
Saturday 4th of June 2005) :
R3600 9cyl (prototype) ran for the first time today! Its been enjoyable
working on this project and we now have all the parts for 6x R36 engines
(inc. 1 spare) but we assembled just one for bench testing, and it
started pretty much first hit, it has duel Hall electronic ignition.
Sounds fantastic and you can imagine the power potential.
The excitement level is high!
Guess a bit of history has just occurred.
Enjoy the pics. Even if I say so myself this is one impressive hunk of
engine!
Kindest Regards - Jim
