Re tires on amphibs

I think I have a glazed right brake because it is not grabbing like the left
one. I have bled the line twice and adjusted the cylinder without any effect.

How do you un-glaze a brake pad?

Hi Bruce !

Maybe Wayne has a better suggestion, but my thought would be
to remove the pad & sand the surface lightly until it's no longer shiney,
then try to break it in again ..... (possibly lightly sand the disk, too ..)

If some oil or brake fluid has soaked the pad, you might have to
replace the pad. Cleveland pads will fit, but I believe the Murphy
pads are much cheaper.

You're supposed to be able to cure a glazed pad by preforming the 1500 rpm
brake drag again...but haven't had much luck with it.

New pads for the 5" Clevelands are 66-106's and you should be able to obtain
either cleveland or Rapco pads for less than $12cdn each.

Can also try Bob's suggestion. I always hit the brake discs with a
scotchbrite pad in a drill when they are off to give them a good cleaning
and scuff. Never thought about scuffing the pad itself...but not a bad
idea..kinda like honing a cylinder!
