out......instead of just blasting through Chillywack on our way to the west
coast......but if I had of stopped we probably would have missed that supper
Walter Klatt "picked up" for Leah and I on the 21st of July in White Rock!!!
THANKS Walter!! )) Funny how I've been building these things for over 11
years...but didn't have a real desire to stop at the factory......no matter
how many times my wife suggested it between the Chilliwack hwy sign and the
roadside airport.....guess that says more than it probably should. Kind of
ironic that in fact I called my son from Surrey to send MAM an email to
check on a delivery date for incoming parts.
..................................
So I don't have to send to everyone that was looking for me and sorry to
bore those that don't care...we left on the 14th of July, just back tonight
after 29 days on the road in the motorhome. After 6433 miles, at about 7
miles to the gallon, (+ about 1000 miles more that we put on the truck we
were towing behind with tours of Vancouver, Vancouver Island and Yellowstone
Park) we made it out to the Island to Victoria and Naniamo BC (after touring
the lower end of Alberta and BC and then up thru the Okanogan Valley), then
down into Washington State and then East across Montana, Wyoming - & 3 days
in Yellowstone National Park, South Dakota, Minnesota and then back into
Ontario at Duluth/Thunder Bay. Then to Hearst for 5 days of fishing at
Fushimi Provincial park and then home.
Miraculously only 2 days of rain the whole month we were away and they were
Monday and Tuesday night this week while sitting in Finlyson Point
Provincial at Temagimi! 107*F for a few days while travelling across
Montana and Wyoming and then 38* to 42*F nights in the "desert" and while in
Yellowstone! Okanagon Valley was about 100*F when we went through there, but
couldn't get a campsite so carried on.
The other big miracle was that our old 22 year old motorhome climbed all
those 8% grades while pulling Leah's Ford Sport Trac behind. Old "burt" as
it is refered to took us as high as 9886' thru a pass in Wyoming. Took 40+
minutes with my foot to the floor to get there, at 32MPH, but we made it! We
passed many vehicles broken down half way up the grades and know for sure to
never buy a new Jeep as we lost count of how many of those were dead on the
hills and most weren't even towing anything. We did lose the brakes almost
totally on a 10 mile long 6% down grade, that we had to ride the brakes on
as we were being lead by a construction vehicle thru one lane road work and
had no choice. Luckily I was able to get it slowed down with the emergency
driveshaft brake as there was a long enough flat stretch just before an 8%
grade down into a town with traffic lights at the bottom of the hill. After
letting the brakes cool down and topping up the brake reservour we were back
on our way. Must have boiled the fluid as had total fade with pedal to floor
and the failure light shinning bright!. We got lucky as the outcome might
not have been as pretty if that flat stretch hadn't of been there!!!
We also took in a free airshow of the Thunderbirds from the side of a
highway...just by chance we came along while the yearly airshow was going on
at a US Airforce Base.

Cheers,
Wayne

Did it have fabric tail and half wing like a UL rebel?

shop was building a Rebel with the Australian 110 HP Rotec (not Rotax!)
radial. It had a smooth round cowl and looked really good. It is
expected to fit the USA light sport requirements. There were a few
modifications in the sheet metal forward of the main carry through to
accommodate the round cowl but still very much a Rebel. I suggested
that it be named the Muskrat. I would buy one for the appearance alone.
