Which way does the prop turn on the Jab... in relation to sitting in the

I have set up and am about to marry a J200 Jabiru cowling to the Rebel
firewall and have just done the final check on the engine offset on my
Jabiru engine (using a Jabiru factory mount) and it is 1.2 degrees - but
to the left looking from the pilot seat.

I think this is the right amount but to the wrong side judging by
information on the list

I am waiting for information from MAM as there is nothing in my manuals
nor in the CD manual.

It troubled me at the time of mounting the engine and Rick Harper had
given me an alignment of 3 inches to the right of the tailpost but a
recheck reveals that that was looking from the FRONT and mine would be
to the left looking from the front.

A recent posting from Bob Patterson seems to support Rick's number and
orientation. Could someone confirm the orientation of the 1 degree
offset for me please?

If the orientation is to the right it would mean that I would have to
jack forward the left side mounts about half and inch.

Is it OK to do that with Penny Washers as, it seems, I accidently
allowed almost that much in my bolt lengh?

Is there supposed to be an offset on a Super Rebel? Should I be pointing my
prop slightly to the right when viewed from the cockpit with a clockwise
turning prop when viewed from the cockpit? Especially with my 425HP Chevy
V8 turning an 84" three bladed prop. How much to the right? About 1.2
degrees like mentioned below for a Rebel? I would think it would need a bit
more due to the high horsepower. I'd hate to end up with a giant tab the
size of Texas on the rudder.

has some built in offset compared to the mount. If you space it to out on
the left side, to correct, I would just use a spacer the same diameter as
the mount pad of the necessary thickness.

I would also first consider shoving the mount back up Jab's you know what
and have them make it "right" first! (and correct their jig while they are
at it!)

I can only assume (and you know what that means..make an @$$ out of U & ME)
that the SR mount has an offset in it. Guys on here building same should
able to set a mount up on the table and tell you if it was built with a
"slant".

Hello Brian
No its not upside down as the bottom mounts are joined and narrower than the
top mounts.

Its not sloppily made so it looks like it has been deliberately (but
incorrectly) made with the one degree offset to the left - ie the wrong
side.

This from a real dummies perspective, but any chance it's mounted to
the firewall "up-side-down"? That would "triple" the incorrectness.

Then that mount is pointing the wrong way...unfortunately, unless the

engine

has some built in offset compared to the mount. If you space it to out

on

the left side, to correct, I would just use a spacer the same diameter

as

the mount pad of the necessary thickness.

I would also first consider shoving the mount back up Jab's you know

what

and have them make it "right" first! (and correct their jig while they

are

at it!)
