SR 3500 Weight and Balance

Post by Al & Deb Paxhia » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:59 pm

Phil,
I put the battery, hyd pump, and ELT in the tailcone just aft of the baggage
area. Empty CG on conventional gear was 12.14" and 13.2" on floats. Some
builders are extending the baggage area to offset the firewall forward
weight. I have not run out of elevator authority but still adding aft weight
and testing.

Where is the most common place for the battery in a SR3500 with the IO 540
Lycoming (weight about 454 lb.) Did it go on the firewall or did it need
to
go into the tail. Your opinion is appreciated. Thanks in advance for
your
time.

SR 3500 Weight and Balance

Hi Phil !

Put it in the back, behind the baggage bulkhead - you'll
want all the weight back there .... Suggest a full toolbox
for the back of the baggage area, too ! ;-) :-)

SR 3500 Weight and Balance

Post by rickhm » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:59 pm

All,

I am thinking tail cone as well. What are people seeing for their battery weight. I was thinking ~30-35 lbs with a larger Odyssey 1200.
