To members attending Sun'n Fun,Canada customs (at
http://www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca/customs/gene ... enu-e.html ) shows no
delays at ANY border crossing in Canada, meaning you can X in less than
5 minutes.
It also only states "When you arrive at the border, please have ready
your photo ID and proof of citizenship". This amounts to a photo drivers
license and your birth certificate, but I would sure hate to spend 2
days loading your motorhome only to get turned around at the border
because you didn't have a passport. Can't see you getting one before S n
F starts either ;o( ! As Aranka shows below, call the 416 # to make sure
you are going to get across, if you don't have a passport, to see if
it's worth the try to get across to the USA (and if you can get back
without one as well!!)

Thanks Keith,
I was advised the same at the passport office (waited three hours to
update my passport). Some people without the current passport were
turned back at the Windsor's border. Canadian Citizenship was not
enough.

Border crossings must be a lot easier at eastern crossings than the
BC/Seattle area crossings. I went across at two different places last
summer in a road trip from Fairbanks and it took well over an hour to get up
to the checkpoint. The actual customs didn't take long, there was just a
lot of traffic! I can hardly wait to make the crossing by air in my SR.
The last time I flew from Seattle to Fairbanks (pre 9/11) I used CANPASS and
did customs at Abbottsford on the phone since no-one was there. Probably
not so simple now-a-days.

[RAA-N] Sun n Fun
We took about 2 hours to cross, in the summer at Buffalo, Mike! It's just
that right now nobody is crossing the border unless it is absolutely
necessary and the longest delay shown today either in or out of the USA was
15 minutes (other than about an hour during rush hour near Vancouver) . Not
even the usual Windsor and Niagara Falls Casino traffic is crossing the
border and it takes alot to keep those addicts away!!
As far as I know the Canadian CANPASS is still up and running right now. Not
sure if the USA version is though.
