Moose headliner

Post by Rhodes » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:49 pm

Has anyone else installed the MAM headliner in their Moose? We put Ron Kakeldey's in the other day and the fit is very poor. The spacing between the headliner and skylights are all different and the forward corners near the windshield cannot be pulled up close. I cancelled my headliner which was being crated and will send pictures to MAM for a credit on Ron's.
Guess we will get creative by spraying Zolotone paint and using Kydex plastic. Any ideas?

Moose headliner

Post by Al & Deb Paxhia » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:49 pm

Britt,
The upholstery is not MAM, but the seat frames are. The seats are built up
with conforming foam, lots of it in the pilots seat, a little less in the
co-pilot seat and very little in the back seats. The seat material is
leather. If you purchase two pelts, there is enough to do 4 seats and the
side panels.
The headliner is stretch wool some of it is on insulation foam and some is
on a plastic hardboard. We were 6 hours into the headliner when the shop
owner realized he would not be happy with the end result. At his cost he
started over again, his comment was the next SR/Moose will be easier. All
materials are flame tested to not give off bad stuff that will kill you in
the event of a fire. If anyone is interested I can give you the name of the
shop off-line. They were great to work with, a friend and I camped in front
of the upholstery hangar for most of week. We worked as gofers to save a few
bucks.
IMHO the MAM seat frames are great. If you can't live with the shape it is a
easy task to cut the tube and reweld the base or seat back.
Al

Check out "Al's Headliner" in the archive dated 3/10/03 - I was thinking
it
was borderline divine inspiration - Is his a MAM?
Also - Are those MAM seat upholstry?
