Repairing leaking fuel tanks <after> removing top skin

Post by brian amendala » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:43 pm

This mixture of water, meth-hydrate and dish soap; does it for sure work? I
need to know because my leak was a three day leak (meaning it took about 3
days for gas to show up around the bottom of my tank after I completely
filled it up. The concern I have is if the surface tension on this mixture
ends up to be like that of H20 I may get a false reading, seal down the lid
and not find the leak until I fill it up with gas. Wayne, if you read this,
what about filling the tank with gas and just clecoing down the lid to try
and keep the fumes from escaping?

Methol-hydrate is the same as gas line antifreeze. Denatured alcohol works
just as well.
