Four door cowling for Rebel/Elite

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:24 pm

Just took some pics for Jeffrey, so thought I may as well post 6 of them to
the archives files. These show the 4 door cowling on my Rebel. Can be done
on the Elite as well and you could even do it for the Lyco powered SR's.

The only additional thing that I would take the time to do, if building
again, would be to split the nose bowl like a newer C150 so you can work on
the alternator/starter/etc without pulling the propellor. Would just be a
matter of cutting the thing in half at the prop c/l and doing some glass
work to make an overlap flange.

The pics also show what Bob P. and myself have been preaching about. IE: how
simple it is to do periodic inspections and/or maintenance for that matter,
with no tools required other than your phillips head driver on the end of
your fuel sampler.

Hope the pics help the "thought train" for you, as you get closer to
flight!!!!

Cheers,
Wayne

Four door cowling for Rebel/Elite

Boy! Talk about great minds thinking alike. The pictures Wayne "O" posted of
his 4 door cowling are exactly the way I built Rebel "652" without ever
having seen Wayne's. I will confirm it sure is nice to either do
maintenance, or just that "general inspection" I like to do periodically
before a long flight. If I had to do over I would also split the nose bowel
for starter and alternator checks. Bob J Rebel "652"

Hi Wayne:

I like the look and accessibility of your four door cowl. Would you please
let me know what nose bowl you started ( and probably finished)with.I am
installing an 0-320 A2B.

Thanks for your help.

The nose bowl that I have came from MAM, with the original engine kit, and I
<THINK> you can still get it from them.

If not the Aircraft Spruce MC-3A works okay. A little different shape, but
seems to work fine. Can upload a picture of Bernie Desantis's using this one
for visual reference if you like!
