throttle cable connections/tailwheel spring

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:17 pm

Rick, I think they were asking where to fasten the cable casing so the cable
can actually push/pull the arms, and that of course changes pending carb
location/engine model etc.

As for the tailspring pics I'll see what I have and if I don't I will take
some showing it installed, as well as how to cut the spring to work right (I
have some that haven't been cut for fit yet, so that's possible). One end
needs the mounting bushing curl cut off, the other the slip end cut flush
with the 2nd spring and the top spring needs to be cut back slightly to
clear the lower rudder hinge bolt.

Cheers,

Subject: Re: throttle cable connections

A while back someone asked what others were doing for engine cable
control connections i.e. carb heat, throttle, mixture.
My carb heat is just clamped to the control arm with a bolt and washers
and a hook on the end. The mixture is just threaded through the hole
provided on the mixture control arm (Lycoming ) and the throttle has one
of those collet type wire grips with a threaded end, Aircraft Spruce P/N
05-16000 or 05-16001 I don't remember what size the cable diameter is. I
have seen these used on many experimentals. Does anyone have any reports
on the type clamps.
Good luck, you'll need it,
Rick D.

Wayne O, if you can post some pics of your steel trailer/tailwheel
spring it would be appreciated.
Thanks.
