I am planning on mounting a VOR antenna on the vertical stabilizer. Of
course I changed my mind from a fuselage location to the more conventional
location on the fin so the fin fairing is already on and will have to be
removed. I was looking at the fin the other day and I think that the
upper-most leading edge rib is well below where the fairing attaches and is
not horizontal. I will have to add another leading edge rib that is
horizontal, right where the fairing attaches, for the antenna mounting, then
trim the fairing to fit around the antenna where it protrudes. Then I'll
want to attach the fairing with screws or something for access to the
antenna. Food for thought for those of you who want an antenna in this
location and haven't built your fin yet.
