Howdy Mike, We used an 11 inch RV replacement strut (40 pound) from our
local RV, camper & trailer dealer. They have many lengths and weights. Ours
cost $14.99 each. Good luck and as Curt says keep at it, it's worth it. Man

cylinders that might be adaptable.
