Rebel headlining

G'day

Oh Boy. Just how difficult is it to fit that headlining and make it look good, and I would appreciate some advice and tips from someone who has actually fitted one.

One of the main problems is where the headlining panel fits around the skylights/ windows.
The instructions say to put "J" moulding around the windows, but just how and where do you put it? If the skylights have been riveted in where do you put the moulding? Behind the rivet line and stuck to the Lexan? Over the rivets?

I have found that the headlining panel sits about 1/4" away from the skylights and I can't really force the panel up any more to meet the skylights. Any thoughts?

Hi Ian,
The J moulding is to go around the opening in the headliner. Sort of
dresses up the cut out of the plastic.
As I remember I didn't have to go to church for a year after spending so
much time on my knees putting in the headliner!! :)

Hi Ian !

I wouldn't worry too much about getting the liner to touch the
skylights - just trim it so the rivets don't show, and slide the edge
moulding on to cover the rough edges. You might want to glue some
foam in behind the liner to keep it rigid ....

Thanks for your response.

The headlining is not the easiest thing thing that I have ever done!

I somehow thought that the lining had to be glued around the skylights, but I will take bobp's idea and glue some foam around the upper edges so that it will close up the gap and firm it up.

What did you do where the window handle is hidden behind the lining?

I guess that I worry too much!. I somehow assumed, that what the factory was
saying, was that the headlining had to be stuck to the roof.

I will just put some J mould around the cut edge and then fill the gap
between the lining and the roof with some foam.
I have some foam about 1/4" thick sticky back foam that is used a draught
stopper on house doors that will do the job nicely.
